JOHN LENNON - A DAY ON THE RADIO SPECIAL

An NBC 2 hour, tape transcription set of John Lennon broadcast on December 9, 10, 11, 1983, made to commemorate him on the third anniversary of his murder. This NBC distribution systems was know as THE SOURCE. The interview was originally recorded on February 13, 1975, and is punctuated with his music.

These tapes were disposed of by the local NBC FM outlet in Chicago many years ago, and are on NAB reels, on high-quality, back-coated tape, two-track stereo, and recorded at 7.5 ips.

They play well and are full high fidelity. Included are two cue sheets for the full two hours.

Rek-O-Kut DEHISSER.  This unit was used for display for a show and demonstration  and has no cosmetic problems.  It removes hiss and noise from LPs, 78s, tape, you-name-it.  It also permits sophisticated groove-wall switching and has selectable rumble filter.  Regular $349.00

Manual for Carver Professional PDR-10 Compact Disc Recorder.  The PDR-10 is essentially a Marantz CDR610.  Carver parts department only supplied the manual  in photocopy format and that is what we have here.  These are very difficult to find.

Set of NAB adapters for many tape decks. The fittings clamp onto the regular spindles and are held in place with clamping screws. The NAB adapters just turn on to tighten.  These were probably made for Magnachord PT-6 recorders (with extension arms) or for their larger models. $20.00
Pair of tubular panel lamps for McIntosh C-22 preamplifier.  These were pulled from a dilapidated parts unit and test as good.  They are missing some of the white reflective paint, but they illuminate.

Astatic ceramic turnover phono pickup.  Takes the still made,
N-60 turnover stylus assembly. Styli look mint under microscope.  They are probably sapphire.  Output checked and it is in spec.  Standard 1/2 inch mount.  Looks like a good fit into Garrard headshell.

Astatic  114-46D mono crystal (ceramic?) pickup.  LP stylus shows some wear, but not bad yet.  Good guess is 50% of life gone.  78 stylus looks like new.  Both are Sapphire.  Output checked and it is in spec.  Standard 1/2 inch mount.  Looks like a good fit into Garrard headshell.

Diamond broadcast transcription/78 rpm record stylus for General Electric VR-225 and VR-227 phono cartridge.  New, old-stock from Pfanstiehl.  Quite rare.  Specifically for ETs, but also usable for later 78s.

LP and 78 rpm turnover stylus assembly for acoStereo model 73 stereo crystal pickup made in England.  That was the only identification on the dead cartridge.  They are probably sapphire, but microscope examination shows both styli to be in near mint condition.

This is a brand-new Arista replacement ceramic turnover phono cartridge.  It is equivalent to a Vaco TN-4, TN-8.  It comes with Sapphire LP styli.  Also, is an Arista 30-071 Diamond replacement.

Empire 66/X phono cartridge.  This cartridge features a built-in, flip-down stylus guard. We have not been able to find any data on this cartridge, but assume it to be middle 1970's vintage.  The stylus is of conical design, and we assume it to be 0.7 or 0.6 mil.  We examined the stylus under a powerful laboratory microscope and found it to be like new.

New, old-stock 1970's Pickering V-15/220E-2 phono cartridge.  This unit is new in original packaging with instructions, mounting hardware, and warranty card.  We examined its elliptical stylus under a powerful laboratory microscope and it does appear new, with no signs of use.  Size is 0.7 X 0.4 mil.  Recommended tracking force is 1 - 3 grams.  Styli are still available.  It will accept Stanton 500 series, 78 rpm styli.

This is a picture of the Tommy Dorsey Band from about 1939 featuring boy singer, Frank Sinatra. It was professionally printed from a magazine or newspaper clipping and then professionally matted in a black metal, Nielsen frame for a gift. Size is 18" X 7."  It is brand new and still wrapped in a protective plastic film (hence poor photo).

SPECTRAL SYNTHESIS / CREAMWARE DAW

A complete  system of  Spectral  Digital Studio Board, FlyBy Bus Controller Board, and SynthCARD board with Quad Card accessory DSP card is installed in the  IBM Aptiva C9F computer.  Software installed is StudioTracks 2.5 , StudioTracks XP 3.05, Mediamaker, and AudioScape for CD mastering.

Inside are 1 IDE system HD, 1 IDE sound/data HD, and 2 SCSI sound HDs. There is also a rear connector for additional SCSI sound HDs. There is one USB port.

Also installed  is a Creamware TripleBoard II and TripleDAT 3.06 softeware, including Firewalkers and Osiris noise reduction.  The TripleBoard II has analogue and digital ins and outs, and also provides MIDI connections.  The Creamware system provides fantastic DSP functions and  noise reduction,  also one of the easiest CD mastering capabilities.
